On May 26 the Valley View Ferry will close until May 31 for a VR (Voyage Repair) period to do necessary repairs. We perform this maintenance every 2 1/2 years in between our mandatory dry dock service. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Vehicles over 24 feet in length are not allowed due to size restrictions or at Captain’s discretion.
Note: The ferry may be closed in the event of high water conditions, inclement weather or for maintenance/repair purposes. When the ferry is not operating, the suggested alternate route between Nicholasville and Richmond is US-27S to Lancaster (Garrard County), then KY-52E to Richmond. The suggested alternate route between Lexington and Richmond is I-75.

Directions
The Valley View Ferry is on the Kentucky River at Tates Creek Road (KY-169) at the Fayette, Jessamine and Madison County lines.
From the Lexington (Fayette County) intersection of Tates Creek Road and New Circle Road, take KY-1974S (Tates Creek Road) to KY-169 to the Kentucky River (approximately 11 miles). From the Nicholasville (Jessamine County) intersection of Main St. and Richmond Ave., take KY-169 to the Kentucky River (approximately 10 miles). From the Richmond (Madison County) intersection of W. Main St. and Tates Creek Road, take KY-169 to the Kentucky River (approximately 13 miles).
Cost
The Valley View Ferry is a free service funded by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the fiscal courts of Madison and Jessamine counties, and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government.
The Valley View Ferry Authority manages the ferry, which is composed of citizens and government officials from the three counties served.
